There is a developing story surrounding the New York Giants and veteran tight end Darren Waller.
After months of deliberation amid possible retirement rumors, fans and the franchise are starting to get some clarity.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Waller will make his decision by next week’s mandatory minicamp.
It is expected within and around the team that he will retire.

This would be a big blow for the Giants to lose Waller, who is one of their most talented offensive pieces.
The 31-year-old has not been what he was earlier in his career with the Las Vegas but is still a quality pass-catching option.
Across 2019 and 2020, the former Georgia Tech star combined to record nearly 200 receptions for over 2,300 yards and 12 touchdowns.
His 107 catches led all tight ends in 2020, which is why he was voted to his first and only Pro Bowl that year.
Waller’s career started to spiral after that season as he went on to catch 55 passes or less in each of his last three seasons in the league.
He also hasn’t played more than 12 games in a year since his 2020 Pro Bowl season.
For a brief time, the nine-year veteran was one of the best tight ends in the league.
Since his final few years with the Raiders and since being with the Giants, he hasn’t been the same.
But, when you take into account what Waller had to overcome off the field before his rise to fame in the NFL, playing nearly a decade in the league with a couple of 1,000-yard receiving seasons sounds pretty good.
