While most of the contract talks in the NFL have surrounded important players on offense, there are some key defenders looking for extensions.
One of those players is six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Cam Heyward, who is about to enter his 14th NFL season (all with Pittsburgh).
Heyward recently spoke with the Pittsburgh media about what he is looking for in his new contract.
“I’m looking to be here…I want to be valued at my position…I think when I’m at the top of my game, I’m still a top-five player at my position,” Heyward stated (via Brooke Pryor).

If there is anybody out there who thinks Heyward isn’t loyal because he wants a new extension or because he wants more money, that isn’t exactly accurate.
He has been with the Steelers for his whole career and does not want to be anywhere else.
Big No. 97 in black and yellow is on his way to becoming a Pro Football Hall of Famer.
The four-time All-Pro has recorded at least 7.0 sacks in half of his NFL seasons, including three seasons with at least 10.0 sacks.
His 80.5 career sacks have proven how reliable and stable of a player the former Buckeye has been in the Steel City.
Look for the 35-year-old to possibly get that deal and stability that he is looking for.
Despite coming off of a down year, perhaps a revamped offense, led by veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, can help shoulder the load that Heyward and the defense have carried for so many years under head coach Mike Tomlin.
