The Houston Texans stole all the headlines when they traded for Stefon Diggs.
They already had an interesting set of talent at CJ Stroud’s disposal, but giving him a proven veteran and someone with a strong record in this league may have put them over the top.
Nonetheless, as impactful as Diggs might be, it seems like Stroud has higher expectations for someone who was already there.
Recently, he gushed about WR Nico Collins, raving about his speed, and going as far as to compare him with the greatest wide receiver in franchise history (via Nick Schwager).
C.J. Stroud on WR Nico Collins:
“When his number is called, he always makes a play. He’s a generational talent, like our age Andre Johnson, in my opinion”.

Stroud stated that Collins was similar to Andre Johnson in the sense that he’s always going to make a play when the team needed him, adding that he expects great things from him next season.
Collins is coming off an excellent season, hauling in 80 receptions for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns.
The Texans have plenty of talent on offense.
They clearly believe Stroud is a special talent who can lead them to contention right away, which is why they doubled down on him by pursuing Diggs and Joe Mixon.
The Texans were the most improved and surprising team in the league last season, but they won’t surprise anybody in 2024.
It’ll be interesting to see whether their talented quarterback can keep it up now that everybody’s got a year’s worth of film on him, but there’s no reason to believe this team won’t be as good — if not better — in the second season under DeMeco Ryans’ tutelage.
