LeBron James recently said that his former teammate Kyrie Irving is the “most gifted player the NBA has ever seen.”

That was high praise from the Los Angeles Lakers legend but of course, it was met with some resistance from some.

For example, Paul Pierce appeared on “Undisputed” and said that he considered Michael Jordan and even Victor Wembanyama more gifted than Irving.

It’s not surprising to hear Pierce claim Jordan is more gifted than Irving considering he is probably the best basketball player of all time.

Pierce’s praise of Wembayama is a bit more shocking because he has only been in the league for one season.

He has certainly shown a ton of promise and could someday be on the same level as Jordan and others but is it too soon to consider him more gifted than Irving?

Pierce, a loyal Celtics icon and fan, may hold a grudge against Irving because of how he treated the team during his two years with them.

At the same time, his argument makes sense in some ways and his opinion is well respected.

Irving is just a day away from returning to the NBA Finals for the first time in years.

This will be his chance to earn another title and remind fans that he is still one of the most important players in the league.

If Irving and the Dallas Mavericks are able to win the Finals, more people will start to speak of him as one of the most gifted players to ever take to the court.

This series will be a vital one for Irving and his legacy.
