The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly set to get one of the most sought-after coaches from the NCAA scene.
A shocking report by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN revealed that the Lakers are zeroing in on UConn’s Dan Hurley.
Previous reports by Shams Charania and The Athletic stated that they were pretty close to getting JJ Redick, but it now seems like Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss are ready to make Hurley a very lucrative offer.
Notably, they might also have LeBron James’ blessing to make that move.
Upon hearing that news, an old tweet from LeBron praising Hurley and his offensive creativity is going viral (via NBA on ESPN).

Reports claim that LeBron isn’t involved in the Lakers’ coaching search.
And even if that were true, it would be quite naive to think that the Lakers wouldn’t make this kind of decision without at least knowing that James would be on board with it.
LeBron can opt out of the final year of his contract and will most likely do so, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to leave the Lakers.
Adding a guy who he seems to respect and admire might be the first step to keeping him home.
Moreover, UConn’s player development has also been great, and with the Lakers having some young players and most likely adding Bronny James into the mix as well, this could be a match made in heaven.
Still, the Lakers’ coaching seat is always blazing hot, regardless of who’s there.
