Weeks ago, former NBA player Austin Rivers went viral for his comments.

He claimed that he could find 30 NBA players who could play in the NFL, but not 30 NFL players who could make it to the NBA.

Needless to say, he faced some serious backlash from both sides of the spectrum.

Nonetheless, his opinion was more popular than some of his detractors wanted to give him credit for.

As a matter of fact, legendary TE Greg Olsen actually agreed with him.

Talking to Patrick Beverley on his podcast, the Carolina Panthers great claimed that football didn’t require as much skill and craftiness as other sports, in the sense that great athletes would find it easier to make a late transition to football than the other way around (via Barstool Sports).

He thinks that athletes in the NBA also need to master skills that need plenty of reps and practice, such as shooting or ball-handling, adding that they could only ride their athleticism up to a point.

Olsen thinks that he could train multiple NBA players to play free safety or defensive back, adding that they would also have a significant size advantage over most of their colleagues.

These comments might not sit well with his fraternity, but he does make some valid points.

Still, at the end of the day, it makes no sense to compare two different sports or pretend that some athletes are better than others.
