The mugshot posted by Fairfax County alarmed many people, including NBA fans who used to love to watch him play during his time in the league.
In the photo, it appeared like West couldn’t keep his eyes open and looked physically unwell.
The 40-year-old star is currently being held on $2,000 bond and will appear in court on Friday morning.
Since leaving after the 2011–12 season, West has experienced a ton of legal problems including numerous issues related to substance abuse.
Back in 2020, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban worked with West to get him into rehab and it looked like he was back on track.
In fact, in 2022, West even tried out for the Big 3 basketball league and looked like he could be playing again.
West spent eight years in the NBA, after being drafted in 2004.
During his years playing professional basketball, West suited up for the Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks.
His career average was 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.
West’s descent and problems post-NBA have been very hard to see for many people, especially because there have been moments when it looked like things were getting better.
Ideally, West can receive the sort of help and support that he needs, including from some of the people he used to play with.
His latest mugshot is very alarming but hopefully, it’s a low point and he can build up from it.
