The Los Angeles Lakers are about to undergo some big changes.

Whether it be Dan Hurley or someone else, the team is on the verge of having a new head coach and could make some major roster changes this summer.

But Paul Pierce predicted another massive, ground-shaking change that could be on the horizon for the Lakers.

“I think this is going to be LeBron’s last year,” Pierce said on Thursday’s “Undisputed.”

Pierce believes that James wants to play one more season with Los Angeles, ideally with his son, before he hangs up his jersey for good.

If Pierce is correct then the Lakers are approaching the end of a major chapter in their history.

Losing James would radically alter the team’s roster and it would hurt the hearts of many fans all over the NBA.

Hiring Hurley would make even more sense if James really is nearing the end of his career.

Because of his experience leading UConn, Hurley has shown that he has what it takes to craft a young squad of players into champions.

Of course, there is a big difference between college and NBA basketball but Hurley could be the key to leading this team for many years.

If James retired, Hurley would put more attention on younger stars like Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Max Christie, and others.

This could be a transitional period for the Lakers, but it might also be a very good one.

Many reports have said that James plans to play for at least a couple more seasons.

But Pierce knows how hard it is to be in the NBA for years and has a perspective few others do.

Will his prediction about James be correct?
