Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks is a fearless player who isn’t afraid to speak his mind or battle any team in the NBA.
However, there is one team he should fear and, sadly, it’s the one he is facing right now in the Finals.
As pointed out by Bleacher Report, Irving has not won against the Boston Celtics since 2021.
In fact, his record against the Celtics in the last 11 games is 0-11.
If there is any time for Irving to break this unfortunate trend, it’s now.

Irving put up 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists during Game 1 on Thursday night.
He was also 6-of-19 from the field and 0-of-5 from beyond the three-point line.
Irving can be a majorly important player for the Mavericks and has a ton of postseason experience but he wasn’t playing like a proven performer during Thursday’s game.
His record against the Celtics is frightening to Mavericks fans, especially because the team is mostly young and untested in the playoffs.
Irving has far more experience in the postseason than anyone else on the team, and his expertise, knowledge, and skillful leadership are needed right now.
In other words, the Mavericks probably cannot win this series if Irving continues to play as he did on Thursday.
The good news is that records like this are broken all the time and Irving is also a very smart player who is capable of reviewing his performance, noting what went wrong, and making corrections in Game 2 and beyond.
That better be the case because the Mavericks were easily defeated during this opening game and they need to quickly get back in good shape before Sunday night.
Irving wasn’t the only weak link during Game 1 but he was perhaps the most troubling one.
