Kyrie Irving Gets Honest About What He’s Seen From Celtics Fans

Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics didn’t end on good terms.

He promised to re-sign there and didn’t, publicly called out some of his younger teammates, and failed to lead them to success in the playoffs.

The Celtics have one of the harshest fan bases in the league, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to see that he’s not much of a fan favorite there.

He then doubled down by stomping on their logo, lighting up sage at the TD Garden, and flipping off their fans.

Nonetheless, he’s no longer the same player and person, and he has apologized for his actions, stating that they weren’t true reflections of his character.

Likewise, it seems like not all Celtics fans hate him anymore.

Talking ahead of Game 2, the controversial guard claimed that he doesn’t hear the same things when he’s walking on the street in Boston, with plenty of people showing him love and reaching out to him to have nice conversations (via Noa Dalzell).

This entire Kyrie Irving clip is worth a watch.

One thing that stood out to me is the he shared that his experience walking around Boston has included lots of positive interactions and mutual respect.

Well, of course, 99% of the fans who heckle and curse out NBA players on the court or social media would never dare say that to their faces.

Then again, it’s never fair to make general statements.

Hopefully, both parties will keep things classy and focus on what’s actually important during the series.
