Even though they’re one of the most historic and popular franchises in all sports, not many people are that familiar with the Boston Celtics’ owner.
Unlike other guys like Mark Cuban, Jerry Buss, Steve Ballmer, or even Michael Jordan, Wyc Grousbeck has often kept a rather low profile.
That’s why not even Luka Doncic knew who he was.
Apparently, Grousbeck started taunting Doncic during Game 2, and the Slovenian star barked back at him after knocking some big shots.
Then, when asked about that, he admitted that he didn’t even know he was the Celtics’ owner (via Celtics on NBC Sports Boston).

Truth be told, it’s highly unlikely that Doncic would’ve taken a different approach if he knew Grousbeck owned the opposing team.
If anything, perhaps he would’ve gotten even madder or more motivated by his heckling.
Team owners and executives are fans first and foremost, but they also have to keep their composure and make sure to lead by example.
Luka Doncic isn’t the kind of player you want to taunt when you’re going against him, as he’s easily hyped up and fueled by trash-talking.
He just lives for big moments.
The Celtics are now up 2-0 on the Dallas Mavericks and just a couple of wins away from their league-best 18th NBA championship.
However, the series will now travel to Texas, and the Mavs have been quite dominant at home, so Grousbeck will hope that his antics won’t come back to haunt him now that he won’t have a homecourt advantage anymore.
