The Boston Celtics have jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals over the Dallas Mavericks.
Joe Mazzulla’s team has silenced the doubters.
Even though the Mavericks pose a much bigger threat than all the opponents they faced during the playoffs, they still haven’t been able to snap the Celtics’ nine-game winning streak.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that Celtics players lead the race for Finals MVP right now.
As shown by ESPN Bet on Twitter, Jayson Tatum currently has the highest odds (+110) to get the distinction.
Updated Finals MVP odds:
J. Tatum +110
J. Brown +170
L. Doncic +600
J. Holiday +750
D. White +5000

He’s followed closely by Jaylen Brown (+170).
Then, we find the likes of Luka Doncic, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis, and Kyrie Irving.
Notably, this is still a little shocking, as Tatum hasn’t been much of a factor — at least scoring-wise.
He’s combined for just 34 points through the first two games of the series, which is far below his usual averages.
Tatum is also struggling with his shot, particularly from beyond the arc.
Even so, it’s not like he hasn’t been impactful, as he’s been dominant on both ends of the glass, and has gotten his teammates involved with his playmaking.
He was one rebound shy of a triple-double in the second game of the series.
That’s what makes the Celtics such a tough team to beat, as they have way too many options, and while Tatum draws double-teams, Brown, Holiday, White, and Porzingis get wide-open shots.
Still, there’s plenty of basketball left, and anything can happen in this league.
