Kyrie Irving was supposed to be a huge difference-maker for the Dallas Mavericks during the NBA Finals.
With the duo of Irving and Luka Doncic, Mavericks fans were very excited to see what the team could do.
But, sadly, Irving hasn’t been delivering like many people expected.
ClutchPoints crunched the numbers and they aren’t very good.
Irving has averaged 14 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4 assists during Games 1 and 2 of the Finals.
He has shot just 13-of-37 from the field and a scary 0-of-8 from beyond the three-point line.
This isn’t the performance that Dallas wanted from the eight-time All-Star.

If the Mavericks are able to rebound in this series, it’ll be because Irving plays a lot better.
Doncic has been doing his part but he isn’t capable of carrying the entire team.
Instead, Irving needs to live up to his end of the bargain.
For the season, he has averaged 25.6 points, 5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists, which makes his numbers in the Finals even more stark and alarming.
The biggest frustration for Mavericks fans is that it’s not clear why Irving isn’t doing well.
He has gotten good looks and isn’t injured.
The Celtics’ defense is tough, of course, but Irving still should be doing better than this.
Dallas is in a bad spot right now because they have lost their last two games and absolutely need a victory on Wednesday night.
It’ll be much easier to achieve that goal if Irving starts to play like the player he typically is.
The Mavericks have a few troubling problems that have gotten in their way so far but Irving’s lack of production is perhaps the biggest one.
