Stephen A. Smith is quickly losing faith in the Dallas Mavericks.

The team failed in their second game against the Boston Celtics on Sunday night and now sit down 0-2 in the NBA Finals.

Speaking on “First Take,” Smith said that he’s not “ruling out the possibility of a sweep if [the Mavericks] don’t get their act together.”

Smith is saying what everyone else is thinking: Dallas is in serious trouble unless they make some big changes quickly.

Luka Doncic is playing tremendous basketball, as usual, but the rest of the Mavericks players are coming up short, according to Smith.

He leveled a lot of the blame at Kyrie Irving, who hasn’t been performing very well during these first two games.

He has averaged just 14 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4 assists so far and has been ice-cold from beyond the three-point line.

So far, he is 0-of-8 from downtown, which isn’t much worse than the rest of the team at 24.5% from three.

Other players need to do more, Smith said.

P.J. Washington, Dereck Lively II, and Maxi Kleber cannot leave everything up to Doncic.

If this team has any chance of coming back from this intimidating deficit, they will have to work together and truly support Doncic.

The Finals are now coming to Dallas and the home crowd is going to be rowdy and ready to root for their Mavericks.

Wednesday night will be make-or-break for the team and they need to come up with a lot more energy.

From Irving to Kleber to Washington and others, numerous players on the roster have a lot to do.

Things are bad for the Mavericks right now but they could get a lot worse on Wednesday.
