It’s not entirely clear what is next for Kevon Looney of the Golden State Warriors.

The three-time champion signed a three-year contract with the Warriors back in 2022.

His third and final year under that contract is coming up and there is a chance that the Warriors drop Looney so that they can save some money.

According to NBC Sports Bay Area, even Looney doesn’t know what will happen but he is adamant about one thing: he will always love this time.

“Whatever happens, I’m always going to be a Warrior for life,” Looney said.

Last season, Looney averaged 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, shooting 59.7% from the field.

Those numbers were a step down from the years before and they also came as he started in fewer games.

In 2023–24, Looney was only a starter for 36 of his 74 games.

This has led to some people assuming Looney will be leaving the Warriors this summer.

The team is strapped for cash and is hoping to shed some of their expenses, including some hefty contracts.

This could be a time of big changes for Golden State, as there are also many questions about the future of Klay Thompson and others.

The team wasn’t able to make the playoffs this year and they are desperate to change that next season.

That means they will have to possibly make tough decisions, including saying goodbye to Looney and other players.

The Warriors are the only team that Looney has ever played for and his career average is 5 points and 5.6 rebounds.

At 28 years old, he would likely find another team to play for quickly but it sounds like he wants to remain with the Warriors.

But he may not get his wish as this next chapter for Golden State begins.
