The Atlanta Hawks are entering a potentially defining offseason in franchise history.

Despite not having the worst record in the league last season, they still managed to get the No. 1 pick.

And while this isn’t a particularly deep NBA draft class, nor is the No. 1 pick expected to be a superstar, it’s still a No. 1 pick.

Most analysts and fans predict the Hawks will also break up their talented backcourt and move either Dejounte Murray or Trae Young to add more draft capital to their ranks.

Nonetheless, sports analyst Bill Simmons reports they might be looking to do something a little more radical.

Apparently, the Hawks could trade both of them and just hit the drawing board to start from scratch (via NBA Central).

The Hawks could trade Trae Young AND Dejounte Murray and start over with the No. 1 pick, per Bill Simmons

“Some people seem to think both of those guys are getting traded is a thing I’ve heard…From different people that don’t know each other, who know things, [they said that… pic.twitter.com/e7hvwCF2Oh

Simmons claimed that multiple people who are connected to the organization or the league and don’t know each other all share the same sentiment, adding that the Hawks have realized that this didn’t work out.

The Hawks could get plenty of value in return for their two stars.

It’s crazy to think that they couldn’t make the most of two guys who seemed to be a perfect fit for one another, but that happens.

The Hawks don’t want to waste any more time, and that actually makes sense.

That’s the kind of thing you can afford when you get the No.1 selection, and with all the draft picks they might get as well, they could stack the roster with young talent in no time at all.
