The Los Angeles Lakers tried, and failed, to get Dan Hurley to be their next head coach.
After the Lakers fell short of securing Hurley to lead the team, many people claimed they didn’t try hard enough or offer enough money.
But Skip Bayless has a different idea and he shared it on Tuesday’s “Undisputed.”
Bayless claimed that the Lakers “got played” by Hurley, who was the real mastermind behind this intense pursuit of him.

Bayless has no evidence for his claims but he thinks Hurley was the one who got the Lakers interested in him.
He believes that if Hurley had been LA’s number-one choice in their search from the beginning, they wouldn’t have waited so long to meet with him.
According to reports, Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka first sat down with Hurley only a few days ago, even though they have been without a head coach for weeks now.
Why would they wait so long if they were so interested in Hurley?
Additionally, Bayless asked what the UConn head coach could truly bring to the table in Los Angeles.
He has no experience leading an NBA team so why was he the top prospect for LA?
Bayless says it’s because Hurley was the one creating buzz around himself and enticing Los Angeles.
Regardless of who enticed who, this entire episode is a big humiliation for the Lakers.
The public consensus now is that the team doesn’t have the sort of appeal it once had and is no longer an attractive location for NBA coaches.
More than anything, it puts them in a tough spot with the NBA Draft just a few weeks away.
No one knows if the Lakers really got played, but they definitely got embarrassed.
