Trevor Ariza spent 18 years playing in the NBA and was on the court alongside some of the best stars ever.
But when asked who was the greatest scorer he ever played with, Ariza had a clear answer: James Harden.
Speaking with Tidal League, Ariza said that Harden “figured out how to score the basketball” in ways that no one else could.
“Being on the court sometimes you’d kinda like fall asleep just watching, like, ‘Damn, he really did that?’” Ariza said.
He compared Harden’s output during that time to what Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is doing right now.
He noted that when a player shoots like Harden or Doncic, opponents try to guard and just hope that he misses.
“For sure James [Harden]. He figured out how to score the basketball… Being on the court sometimes you’d kinda like fall asleep just watching like, ‘Damn, he really did that?'”

Ariza played with Harden during their time together on the Houston Rockets.
This was an amazing period for Harden, who averaged 29.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 7.7 assists during his years leading the Rockets.
For many, his Rockets era was the best of his career and it cemented his place as one of the greatest players alive.
He generated a ton of buzz and earned MVP while playing for the Rockets.
Ariza was in awe of what Harden could do, as were all Houston fans.
Unfortunately, the Rockets weren’t able to fully capitalize on Harden’s talents and the rest of the team and the star player eventually demanded a trade.
He left during the 2020–21 season and moved to the Brooklyn Nets.
Since then, his output has been mixed, at best, and some of the people who were rooting for him in Houston are disappointed by the player he is now.
But Ariza and others will always be blown away by what Harden did for the Rockets.
