The Miami Dolphins just got one of their best players paid, and now, it’s their quarterback’s turn.
Jaylen Waddle’s big contract extension raised speculation about whether Tyreek Hill was also going to get a raise, but he’s not currently at the top of the priority list.
Tua Tagovailoa has yet to get a contract extension, and while some fans wonder whether he should get top dollar in his next contract, that’s just the current state of the market.
With that in mind, former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky wanted to take some time to give Tua his flowers, not only for being a good quarterback but also for being tailor-made to run Mike McDaniel’s offense (via FinsXtra).
Dan Orlovsky on Tua Tagovailoa: “There’s not a lof of guys that can run [McDaniel’s] offense, and operate and execute that offense as efficient and at a high level like Tua has. I think Miami’s got to get that deal done, and get it done quickly.” (@danorlovsky7) #GoFins pic.twitter.com/bePZMZy9vz

Orlovsky explained that, with all the motions, shifts, play fakes, and anticipation, there aren’t that many guys who could efficiently run the Dolphins’ offense, citing just Patrick Mahomes, CJ Stroud, Joe Burrow, Matthew Stafford, and Brock Purdy.
He thinks that there’s another tier of fringe players that could do so, including Dak Prescott, Jared Goff, and maybe Jordan Love.
Of course, he doesn’t think that one player is necessarily better than the other, but in terms of fit, he believes Tua is right near the top of the list.
Per Orlovsky, the Dolphins can win ‘a ton’ of games with Tua behind center, which is why he thinks they need to get a deal done quickly.
Tua has drawn mixed reviews since he made it to the league, but the reality is that he’s the best option the Dolphins have right now, and it’s not even close.
