The Miami Heat have a big decision to make in front of them.

Jimmy Butler is 34 years old already, but he’s still one of the best players in the league when healthy.

He wants to sign a contract extension, but there has been no word about the Heat’s intention to give him one.

However, even though multiple teams would gladly take him and give him the extension he’s looking for, Jimmy has no desire to play for any other team, according to Shams Charania.

During his most recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Charania revealed that the Heat don’t intend to trade Butler, but they haven’t talked about a potential extension, either (via Legion Hoops).

REPORT: Jimmy Butler doesn’t want to play anywhere but Miami, per @ShamsCharania.

“There are multiple teams out there that would give him an extension… The Heat don’t want to trade him; he wants an extension. Will they give him an extension? That’s the question.”

Butler isn’t particularly young and has struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons.

Still, he’s proven to be a born leader on and off the court, and he’s led the franchise to two trips to the NBA Finals despite not being anywhere close to other teams in terms of talent.

Granted, Bam Adebayo and coach Erik Spoelstra also deserve plenty of credit for that, but the fact of the matter is that they’re Butler’s team and will only go as far as he can take them.

Now, the ball seems to be in Pat Riley’s court.

And while giving max-caliber money to an injury-prone veteran player might not he the wisest decision, it doesn’t seem like the Heat will stand a chance to win another ring any day soon without Butler out there.
