Following the blockbuster trade that sent superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, the Green Bay Packers were thought to be potentially on the verge of rebuilding, with the storied franchise ready to get a new era underway in Wisconsin.

A few games into the 2023 NFL season, it seemed as though the Packers were rebuilding, with Green Bay looking like a mess and a team that desperately needed to figure things out, or that it could be a few years or more of futility for a franchise that is not familiar with that situation going from Brett Favre to Rodgers and now to Jordan Love.

Fortunately for Green Bay, the team did turn things around at the right time to salvage the 2023 campaign, resulting in a playoff berth for a Packers squad that many thought could compete for the Chicago Bears as the worst team in the NFC North division.

Along with turning things and Love looking like the real deal with a promising future ahead, the Packers were able to pull off a postseason shocker by beating the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs before falling to the San Francisco 49ers the following week.

Despite coming up short against the 49ers, the future looks bright for the Packers, and it appears the team is getting confident about how the defense looks moving forward, with linebacker Preston Smith foreseeing a big season ahead for Green Bay, via Ryan Wood of USA Today.

“I think there’s going to be a lot of big things happening this year for the Green Bay Packers,” Smith said.

Obviously, the Packers have much to prove moving forward, as some will question whether last season’s second-half push and playoff win over the Cowboys was a fluke.

Despite the skepticism, the players seem to have bought in, making Green Bay a team to watch in 2024.
