The best players in the NFL are more often than not the hungriest.

That is exactly the case with Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze.

The No. 9 overall pick out of Washington recently spoke with the Chicago media about his career goals.

“I think that’s important for every player to set those goals…Chasing those records, I think that’s important…Hopefully I leave the Bears organization better than I found it,” Odunze said, per Sky Kruse.

The Bears do not have a strong offensive history, other than at the running back position thanks to backs like Walter Payton and Matt Forte.

Johnny Morris is the team’s all-time leader in receiving yards (5,059 yards).

Brandon Marshall is the team’s single-season leader in catches (118) and yards (1,508).

If Odunze can reach his potential, these are numbers that are certainly within reach.

The former All-American receiver is coming off of back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons with the Huskies.

In fact, he recorded 75+ receptions and over 1,100 yards in both years.

His 2023 season was even more ridiculous when you take into account his 92 catches for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns.

If it wasn’t for him, who knows if Washington makes it to the national title game?

In Chicago, he will be in a wide receiver room with six-time Pro-Bowler Keenan Allen and multi-time 1,000-yard receiver DJ Moore.

It may be hard for Odunze to put up major numbers with so many mouths to feed and with a rookie quarterback no less.

Regardless, he has the ability and talent to be one of the better receivers in the game at his height.
