The Washington Commanders are entering the 2024 NFL season with more confidence than they’ve had in several years.

After struggling to find a long-term franchise quarterback, there is a general sense of excitement for Jayden Daniels.

Daniels was taken with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, someone who brings a lot of energy to the organization.

After winning the Heisman Trophy last year, Daniels is seemingly ready to take that next step to the NFL, hoping to help turn the Commanders around.

While there is a lot of pressure on him given the fact that he was taken No. 2 overall, Daniels seems to be handling the spotlight well.

He was recently asked about being the “star quarterback” of this team, and his answer was recorded by reporter Scott Abraham on Twitter.

Daniels responded, “I ain’t a star quarterback yet, I got a long way to go. I’m a rookie.”

Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels gets it.

A reporter asked Jayden what it’s like being the “star quarterback” in town?

Most NFL fans around Twitter were thrilled with Daniels’ answer to this question, sharing their thoughts on the new starting quarterback.

Too often people don’t have any idea how much comes at these young men when they step into a role like this. If you really think about it, the ones that remain humble always seem to do better than those who don’t. I think he does a very good job handling the press. Class act.

However, not everyone was thrilled with a reporter calling Daniels a star, as was highlighted by one response, which said, “He most definitely isn’t a star.”

What Daniels will end up doing on the field remains to be seen.

He could have a lackluster rookie campaign, or, he could look like C.J. Stroud in his first season with the team, thriving under the pressure.

No matter what outcome happens to Daniels in his rookie season, there will be a lot of eyes on him.
