The Boston Celtics are one win away from becoming NBA champions again.
But even though they’ve dominated throughout the course of the season, this championship actually has been years in the making.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have been up and down, praised and doubted, and it’s been a long and winding road to the top.
So, with the team now up 3-0 on the Dallas Mavericks, Brown looked back on that and shared his thoughts.
He claimed that experience was the best teacher, and while they’ve been hearing all the talk about how they’re still the same old Boston Celtics, they’ve learned from their shortcomings of the past to get to this point (via Justin Turpin).
Jaylen Brown:
“Experience is the best teacher. All year long we’ve been hearing about the Celtics of the past. For the last 6 to 8 months, that’s all we’ve been hearing. All the different shortcomings we’ve had. This is a new team. We’ve learned from those experiences. pic.twitter.com/eva19K3IjP

That’s right on point, as all young players go through growing pains, whether it’s in the NBA Finals or not.
Brown and Tatum have been doubted over and over, with fans and analysts even urging the team to break them up.
They left plenty to be desired in their first trip to the Finals.
Still, the front office kept doubling down on them and surrounding them with the kind of talent they needed to thrive.
They’re finally reaping the benefits, and as much as people have tried to discredit the Celtics and this year’s run, they just keep beating everybody who’s in front of them.
Not many teams are patient enough to build a championship like the Celtics did, and it should be an example for the rest of the league.
