It’s never been a secret that the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers don’t like each other.

This rivalry dates back to the Bill Russell days, and it’ll never go away.

It was at it’s peak when Magic Johnson and Larry Bird went at each other in the mid-80s.

However, even the legendary Lakers point guard has to admit that the Celtics are playing great basketball right now.

That’s why, following their win in Game 3, the Hall of Famer praised Joe Mazzulla’s team for the way they’ve played together as a team, while also praising Xavier Tillman.

It was a total team effort by the Celtics, with strong ball movement and execution from all their role players. Even my fellow Spartan Xavier Tillman Sr. made a 3!

The Celtics have been the true definition of a team this season, especially in the playoffs.

Jayson Tatum hasn’t been his usual dominant scoring self in the postseason, but he’s embraced a lesser role on offense for the sake of the team, dominating the glass, playing defense, and setting his teammates up.

Jrue Holiday, Derrick Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, and even Al Horford have all stepped up at times, with Jaylen Brown being the most consistent.

The Celtics’ depth and experience have been major factors in all the series leading to this moment, and it seems like there’s just no ego or hidden agendas.

This team was there two years ago and knew how much it hurt to leave the NBA Finals empty-handed.

Now, they’re one win away from finally getting over the hump and winning their league-best 18th title, one more than Magic’s beloved Lakers.
