Jaylen Brown is one of the best players in the NBA, which shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
He was Mr. Georgia Basketball in high school and was pursued by several blue-blood basketball programs, and then he was selected No. 3 overall in the NBA Draft.
However, Brown still had to put in a lot of work on his game to reach the level he’s at right now.
Notably, he knew that iron sharpened iron, which is why he reached out to his childhood idol to get better.
In a past appearance on “All The Smoke” with Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes, Brown admitted that he grew up looking up to Tracy McGrady.
.@Tmac_213 was a big influence on Jaylen Brown’s game growing up.

He claimed that he tried to model his game after T-Mac’s, pretending to be him in the driveway and whatnot before actually getting to workout with him.
McGrady is one of the most talented and versatile scorers this game has ever seen.
His ability to score from all three levels was almost unmatched at the time, and his career without injuries is one of the biggest what-ifs in NBA history.
Granted, he was never the defender Brown is nowadays, but his scoring prowess was only comparable to Kobe Bryant’s when he was in his prime.
Fast forward to today, and that young kid who looked up to him is just one win away from doing what he never could, which is winning an NBA championship, and that’s the beauty of sports.
