The Boston Celtics are one win away from winning the NBA Finals, the organization’s first title since 2008.
They were the favorites to win the Finals heading into the season, so it’s only fitting that they’ve found themselves in this position.
While the Celtics are led by their stars, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, they’ve also gotten great production out of their other players, including Derrick White.
White has turned into a fantastic shooter and facilitator for this team, a necessary cog of the machine.
He has especially gained notoriety during the playoffs for his efforts and has gotten more and more screen time as a result.
White was recently asked to provide his favorite quote about his head coach, Joe Mazzulla, which he did with a smile.
As reporter Noa Dalzell highlighted on Twitter, White said, “When he won Coach of the Month, I said ‘Hey, congratulations’. And he just looked at me and said ‘Nobody cares.’”

White laughed about this interaction, a sign of Mazzulla’s mentality.
Sure, getting an honor like this is a sign that he’s well-respected around the league.
In Mazzulla’s mind, this accolade isn’t as impressive to him as winning an NBA title.
After all, when people talk about the legacy of a coach or player one of the first things mentioned is the amount of titles they amassed throughout their career.
Mazzulla continues to remain focused on the task at hand, as his team needs just one win in the next four games to take home the coveted title.
