The last time the Boston Celtics won an NBA title was in 2008, when the dynamic trio of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen got the best of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar duo of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol.

Boston had another opportunity to win it all in 2010, but Bryant and Gasol got their revenge against the arch-rival Celtics, beating Garnett and his star-studded squad in seven games.

After that appearance in the NBA Finals against Bryant’s Lakers, it was doom and gloom for quite some time for the Celtics, as they eventually traded their stars and started from scratch.

As a diehard Celtics fan and Boston native, Bill Simmons took to Twitter to reflect on where it all started for Brad Stevens back in 2013, leading to two more Finals appearances and the storied franchise potentially winning an 18th championship tonight against the Dallas Mavericks on the road at American Airlines Center.

With stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way, the Celtics have dominated the Mavericks in the Finals up to this point, with the star-studded duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving having no answer for Boston throughout the first three games of the series.

Unless the Mavericks figure out how to solve this puzzle in the Finals against the Celtics, it seems like a foregone conclusion that Boston will lift another championship banner in the rafters at TD Garden.

All signs point to this best-of-seven series ending tonight in Dallas, with Boston being slight favorites on the road to beat the Mavericks and officially win another title.
