On Thursday, the Jacksonville Jaguars did what everyone expected them to do this NFL offseason, signing Trevor Lawrence to a lucrative long-term contract extension, making him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.

Even though Lawrence seemed to regress during the 2023 NFL season compared to the 2022 campaign, the Jaguars starter was still able to prove his worth to the franchise and convinced the team’s brass that he is the face of the franchise moving forward.

Throughout his first three seasons in the NFL with the Jaguars, the former Clemson star has been racking up the passing yards, putting him in select company for young players in the league only three years into their professional careers.

However, even though what Lawrence has done in terms of passing yards over the past three years has been impressive, joining the likes of Joe Burrow, Peyton Manning, and Andrew Luck, it pales in comparison to what Justin Herbert has been able to accomplish in the same amount of time.

According to NFL on CBS, Herbert threw for 14,089 passing yards in his first three seasons, which is 2,319 more yards than Lawrence and 1,132 yards more than Luck who comes in second in this category.

Needless to say, there are some talented young quarterbacks in the NFL right now, with Herbert, Burrow, and Lawrence likely around for a long time, setting up promising futures for the Los Angeles Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Jaguars.

Herbert’s numbers could continue to go up under new head coach Jim Harbaugh, who gives the Chargers a chance to get on the right track next season and beyond.
