The Boston Celtics couldn’t finish the job on Friday night.

The series will now head back to the TD Garden for another must-game win for the Dallas Mavericks, who were at their best on both ends of the floor in Game 4.

Jason Kidd’s team dominated from start to finish, especially on defense, and the Celtics’ starters struggled from the field.

That was the case, particularly for Jayson Tatum, who had arguably his worst performance of the playoffs yet.

Tatum scored 15 points on 40% from the floor, adding five rebounds with three assists, one steal, and two blocks.

He also shot 25% from beyond the arc, and his shooting woes continue.

On top of that, he’s now made unfortunate NBA history, logging a plus-minus of -33.

As shown by StatMamba on Twitter, he’s now the only player in NBA history to have a +/- of -30 or worse in multiple games in the Finals.

Tatum has drawn plenty of criticism for his performances throughout the course of the playoffs.

He was solid in the Eastern Conference Finals, and he’s been a dominant rebounder, but he’s struggling mightily from all three levels.

And with his team having an opportunity to clinch a championship, the fact that he had that kind of negative impact on the game was only fuel to the fire of the criticism.

At the end of the day, that’s the kind of burden that comes with being the best player on the best team in the league, and he’ll have a tough time turning around the narrative about him.
