It’s officially that time of the year in the NBA.
With free agency looming, some players will look to make the most of their leverage to get the deal they want, and that might include some trickery.
It’s become a bit of a trend to see players unfollow their teams on social media, as well as scraping their pages and wiping out anything related to the franchise.
And while, more often than not, it’s completely meaningless and doesn’t lead to a departure, sometimes it does.
Surprisingly, Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson became the latest star to join this trend, reportedly unfollowing the Dubs on social media (Via 95.7 The Game & NBA Central).

Needless to say, it didn’t take long before the fans flooded Twitter to speculate about his future and claim that he was on his way out.

This is not very Klay Thompson-ish.
He’s never been high on social media or the kind of player who seeks attention.
He’s going to become a free agent for the first time in his career, and even though he’s aging and coming off arguably the worst season of his career, he should still gauge plenty of interest around the league.
Thompson had been vocal about his desire to play for the Warriors for his entire career, and he would even embrace a lesser role and paycheck if that’s what it took to do so.
Still, if he doesn’t feel valued in the Bay area anymore, and with other teams looking forward to making him a Godfather-like offer, this could be the beginning of the end for him.
