Perhaps the biggest news that came in the NFL over the weekend was Cincinnati Bengals 1,000-yard wide receiver Tee Higgins showing up to sign his franchise tender with the team.
After holding out for the entire offseason in search of a major extension, Higgins gave in and decided to sign what is essentially a one-year deal.
Former Super Bowl winner and 1,000-yard wide receiver Plaxico Burress chatted about Higgins and the situation in Cincinnati recently on “The Carton Show.”
“The Cincinnati Bengals can win without Tee Higgins, but it wouldn’t be ideal,” Burress stated.

He certainly has a point.
With Joe Burrow back healthy under center, anything is possible.
Plus, All-Pro wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is the best skill player that the team has.
But, the team has lost the likes of former 1,000-yard receiver Tyler Boyd and former Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon, who both left for the AFC South earlier this offseason.
Again, anything is possible with a franchise quarterback like Burrow.
But losing a quality No. 2 wide receiver like Higgins, who could be the No.1 wide receiver on a lot of teams, would not help the team.
If they could find a way to ink both Higgins and Chase to long-term deals, that would be a win-win move.
But of course, Chase is likely to receive his payday first because of how productive he has been for the team to start his career.
Just looking at 2024, with Higgins back in the building, the sky can be the limit for head coach Zac Taylor and Co.
