The Boston Celtics hold a 3-1 advantage in the NBA Finals, which means they are still favorites to win the series over the Dallas Mavericks.

If that happens, one of their players will be named Finals MVP, but it’s not entirely clear who will receive the honors.

Some people believe that Jayson Tatum will get the trophy, while others think it’ll go to Jaylen Brown or Jrue Holiday.

Speaking with Malika Andrews, via NBACentral, Tatum said he won’t be upset if he isn’t named Finals MVP.

“Isiah Thomas didn’t win Finals MVP every time. Tim Duncan didn’t win Finals MVP every time. Larry Bird. Steph Curry only has one. Kobe won two out of five championships,” Tatum said.

He added, “As a competitor, you want to win and accomplish everything in front of you, absolutely. But I would not be the slightest bit sad, you know, that I didn’t win Finals MVP. I would be ecstatic just to win the Finals.”

Obviously, it is far more important to win the Finals than the Finals MVP, so Tatum’s feelings are completely understandable.

His goal has always been to become a champion and the Celtics are incredibly close to making that a reality.

Tatum might still be named Finals MVP but there is a very good chance that someone else on his team will earn that title.

While he has been an important part of his team’s success, there have been numerous complaints about Tatum throughout the playoffs and in the Finals.

He has done a lot and he hasn’t played poorly but some claim he hasn’t done enough to become MVP.

That doesn’t bother Tatum and he’s not paying attention to anything but winning his first championship.
