After a rough maiden voyage with the Cleveland Browns that included an 11-game suspension and poor play afterward, quarterback Deshaun Watson looked to regain his form when the 2023 campaign began.
But he continued to play well beneath his standards, and to add injury to insult, a broken bone in his throwing shoulder ended his season after just six games.
He has been slowly ramping things up as offseason workouts have taken place, and Browns general manager Andrew Berry says Watson’s rehab is going well, per NBC Sports.

In six games last year, Watson completed just 61.4 percent of his pass attempts and threw for 1,115 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions.
It was a far cry from the 2020 season when he led the NFL with 4,823 passing yards while also managing 33 touchdown passes and a stellar 70.2 percent completion rate.
Somehow, even without Watson and star running back Nick Chubb, the Browns made the playoffs in 2023 with an 11-6 record, and one would think that a healthy Browns team could do some real damage in the playoffs this winter.
In last season’s wild-card playoff round, they got destroyed by the upstart Houston Texans, 45-14.
Cleveland has added some depth in the form of backup QB Jameis Winston, the No. 1 pick in the 2015 draft, and running back D’Onta Foreman, as well as wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.
Jeudy, in particular, could help Watson perform better by giving him a true WR2 alongside Pro Bowler Amari Cooper — he had 758 yards in 2023 and 972 yards the year prior with the Denver Broncos.
