The Boston Celtics have been the best team in the Eastern Conference for years now.
They’ve had virtually no opposition in the regular season, with only the Milwaukee Bucks potentially as the team who could challenge them for the No. 1 seed.
However, they kept falling short in the playoffs over and over, which is why most people were skeptical about their ability to take care of business this year.
That’s no longer the case.
This team already knows what it’s like to pop champagne and celebrate championships, and that kind of mental strength and character is something that just doesn’t go away.
With that in mind, ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith claimed that it wouldn’t be shocking to see them win at least a couple of more titles with this core of players (via New York Basketball).
Stephen A Smith: “There’s no reason we can’t look at the Celtics & say we expect a couple more titles”
Julius Randle: “Yeah well I’m not gonna sit here & say I expect a couple more titles. I’m still playing…You gotta give them credit. Next year hopefully we can stop them.” pic.twitter.com/hGrwHwiREr

Needless to say, Julius Randle, who was also a part of the broadcast, had no choice but to disagree with Smith, giving them credit but also hoping that the New York Knicks could stop them next season.
Truth be told, the Celtics had a cakewalk run to the NBA Finals, and perhaps things would’ve been a little different if they had faced any team at full strength.
Even so, they were still the best team all year long, and they had more than enough assets and resources to beat whoever was in front of them.
The only thing they lacked was experience and a taste of success, and now that they’ve got it, it’ll be almost impossible to stop them.
