The Chicago Bulls have arguably the worst situation in the NBA, with a roster built to contend now but without nearly enough talent to do so, which, combined with a front office unwilling to rebuild, creates a depressing trajectory for this team’s future.
Zach LaVine is the team’s best player and is locked into a massive contract despite several injuries in recent years.
Now, one team has already contacted Chicago to gauge their temperature and see if it would be possible to pry LaVine away from the Bulls this offseason.
This would give his then-former team some cap relief.
Matt Moore of Hardwood Paroxysm shared that the Sacramento Kings have contacted the Bulls to check in on LaVine, noting that the Kings appear to be shopping Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter, and draft picks in hopes of finding a significant upgrade.
The Kings have checked in with the Bulls about a potential trade for Zach LaVine and/or Alex Caruso, per @HPbasketball (https://t.co/eEToGcJmFR).

LaVine played just 25 games this season after undergoing foot surgery but had been an efficient 24-28 ppg scorer for five years prior to this season.
He would be an immediate upgrade in the backcourt for the Kings.
The downside is that LaVine has significant shortcomings as a creator and a defender, and while the limited ability as a distributor might not matter in Sacramento with Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox leading the show, the Kings’ defense is already bad and would likely get worse with LaVine.
LaVine’s deal has two years and about $89 million left, with a $48.9 million player option in 2026-27.
It’s no surprise that the Bulls might look to move LaVine, but it’s unlikely Kings fans would get excited about this.
