The Minnesota Timberwolves looked poised to make the NBA Finals.

Then, the Dallas Mavericks came on knocking like a wrecking ball to put an end to their aspirations.

Perhaps the matchup wasn’t ideal, and Anthony Edwards also looked completely gassed at the end of the season.

So, with them going home in just five games, analysts and fans wondered whether they would look to run it back with this team or break their core up.

Karl-Anthony Towns looked like the likeliest trade candidate, especially considering how much they gave up to get Rudy Gobert.

Timberwolves insider Darren Wolfson recently reported that the sentiment around the league is that the Timberwolves are ready to run it back with this same core (via SKOR North).

“I was just texting literally with a league executive two minutes ago, he’s convinced the Wolves are going to run this thing back”

While he doesn’t rule out a big move involving Towns at some point, he claimed that, from what he could gather from his sources, there’s just nothing going on right now.

Wolfson also reported that the big question mark in Minnesota will be whether they’re able to keep Kyle Anderson, who’s likely going to get more than the $9-ish million he’s getting right now.

The Timberwolves shouldn’t panic.

They have a budding superstar and a solid Robin, so they just need to make sure that Edwards gets in better shape, as he’s going to continue to get better with more experience.
