It was clear early on how much OG Anunoby meant to the New York Knicks after being acquired in a trade with the Toronto Raptors during this past season, and the team’s spirited run through the postseason hit a screeching halt when OG pulled his hamstring early in the second-round series against the Indiana Pacers.

Recent reports suggested that Anunoby wasn’t thrilled with the Knicks’ most recent contract offer, but one insider has a strong belief about OG’s future.

SNY’s Ian Begley recently said on The Knicks Film School Podcast that “Unless OG Anunoby were to go a different way and, you know, change agents, leave CAA, I mean I just can’t see this ending up in any way that is not OG coming back to New York.”

Anunoby leaving would hurt significantly just from a roster makeup standpoint.

Still, the macro would make it hurt even worse given the fact that the Knicks just traded RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley for him, and to lose Anunoby after only 23 games would be malpractice by this front office.

It became immediately clear that Anunoby was a perfect fit alongside Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo on the perimeter for this squad.

Anunoby will command a lot of money, but if the Knicks don’t want to pay him, there will be a long line of teams willing to do so.

This is simply the cost of doing business, and there is no scenario where the Knicks can allow OG to leave.
