The Los Angeles Lakers have searched for a new head coach throughout the offseason.

While they have apparently found their guy on two separate occasions, they have yet to sign an official deal with any candidate.

UConn’s head coach, Dan Hurley, was offered the job but turned it down to stick with the collegiate ranks.

J.J. Redick has also been in the mix throughout the process, but for whatever reason, there haven’t been many advancements from either side.

With this in mind, Redick could be growing impatient with the Lakers, which might explain Vince Goodwill’s recent report.

According to Vince Goodwill via Legion Hoops, the Detroit Pistons could throw their hat in the ring to try and steal Redick away from the Lakers.

The Pistons recently fired Monty Williams after one season, also leaving a head coaching vacancy.

Wiliams was inked to a multi-year deal, and while the Pistons were excited about him right away, it was clear that he wasn’t going to be their guy moving forward.

They struggled to gain any traction last year and were once again one of the worst teams in the NBA.

Adding someone like Redick could be an interesting choice for them, as he is a non-traditional option.

For a team like the Pistons who have experienced so much turmoil over the past several years, a non-traditional coach might be just what they need to figure themselves out and take a step in the right direction.

Otherwise, it could be another down year for the Pistons.
