Brian Windhorst Questions Clippers Over Paul George Situation

The Paul George era could be ending for the Los Angeles Clippers, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

That’s according to Brian Windhorst, who appeared on Thursday’s “First Take” to discuss the George-Clippers negotiations.

A video shared by ClutchPoints on Twitter shows Windhorst questioning the Clippers, who have the ability to sign George right now but are choosing not to.

He has multiple teams interested in him and could walk on the Clippers “for nothing,”  yet Los Angeles hasn’t done anything to retain him.

“Paul George has options out there as a free agent… He has legitimate other offers, and yet here he is still a free agent… Why have [the Clippers] not made that offer? … They have to know that he could walk on them for nothing.”

The Clippers could look very different when the new season begins in the fall.

Not only could they be without George, but James Harden could also leave the team.

This would obviously give the Clippers a lot more money to play with to attract new talent, but would it be a smart move?

And is this why they aren’t making moves with George?

Are they content to let him go because they are planning to do a bit of rebuilding?

Most reports say that the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic are two teams very eager to talk with George and offer him a new deal.

There would be others, of course, and George would be one of the largest free agents on the market.

He has remained loyal to the Clippers and is a Los Angeles native who wants to stay in his hometown.

That makes the Clippers’ decisions even more confusing because they could keep him if they wanted to.

Windhorst made it clear that the Clippers could be signing George today and keeping him for the long term, but they haven’t made any moves to do that.

It’s a very interesting decision that has some people wondering what LA’s plan is.
