Just when it seemed like JJ Redick was on the verge of becoming the new coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, a new candidate may have appeared — again.

If that sounds familiar, that’s because it is.

The Lakers made Dan Hurley a big offer to pry him away from the University of Connecticut, but he chose to stay with the Huskies.

Now, with the Detroit Pistons firing Monty Williams, some think the Lakers should definitely make a run at him.

Notably, that includes Draymond Green.

The Golden State Warriors star stated that the Lakers should reach out to Williams, as he has strong ties with Anthony Davis (via The Volume Sports & NBA Central).

Draymond Green thinks the Lakers should hire Monty Williams

“I know Anthony Davis loved Monty Williams when he played for him at New Orleans. So you ask yourself, should the Lakers consider Monty Williams? And I say, of course, you got to consider him 100%, especially with that… pic.twitter.com/vUN8DnDhsl

Green claimed that Davis loved playing for Williams when they were together with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Of course, this makes perfect sense, and the Lakers wouldn’t be doing their jobs if they didn’t at least consider hiring Williams.

Nonetheless, whether Williams will be interested in coaching is a different story.

He was going to take a year off to take care of his sick wife before the Pistons came knocking with a Godfather-like offer.

But with $65 million coming his way even if he doesn’t coach, there might not be a big incentive to head back to the bench.

Also, as much as he claimed he wasn’t involved in the decision, it’s hard to think that LeBron James doesn’t want Redick — his friend and podcast co-host — to be the coach, so that’s another major factor to consider.
