The hiring of JJ Redick as the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers has generated a major response from fans and analysts across the NBA.
Some people think that it’s a smart, out-of-the-box move, while others feel that Redick’s lack of coaching experience will hurt the team.
On Friday’s “Undisputed,” Skip Bayless said LA’s move is “completely unknowable.”
“You have no track record,” Bayless said, stating that other former players have tried and failed to lead teams.

Bayless pointed out that Steve Nash is considered one of the best and smartest point guards of all time.
Yet, his time leading the Brooklyn Nets was seen as a big disappointment and showed that the transition from former player to coach isn’t always easy.
Redick might have it even harder than Nash did because he is responsible for leading the Lakers, one of the most popular teams in the league.
Additionally, the team wants to win as much as possible quickly because they are working under the ticking clock of LeBron James’ looming retirement.
If Redick falls short of the team’s lofty goals, he will immediately receive a ton of criticism and could be out of work.
However, Redick could surprise everyone and end up being a perfect fit right away.
He clearly has a very high basketball IQ and can work well with others.
With a strong coaching staff around him, Redick could earn some big victories in LA.
No one knows what will happen with Redick and the Lakers but there is no doubt that everyone will be paying close attention.
