The Boston Celtics were able to win the NBA Finals because of multiple players on their roster, including Finals MVP Jaylen Brown.
Derrick White was one of the most crucial members of the Celtics’ lineup and was repeatedly a huge help at the most important moments.
There is no doubt that White just had an amazing playoff run but according to Shane Young, it was downright historic.
In NBA history, only two other players have shot at least 40% from the three-point line with 8+ attempts per game during any playoff run spanning 15+ games.
Stephen Curry has done it three times and Klay Thompson has done it once.
And now White has joined that exclusive club because he put up 8.5 three-point attempts and shot 40.4% from beyond the arc during his 19 playoff games.

This is more proof of what a terrific player White is.
He just finished his third season with the Celtics and it was his most important one yet.
When the season began, White was given more responsibilities because the Celtics were without Marcus Smart.
So they turned to White more often and he was willing to take on the challenge.
White has been shooting well all season, landing 46.1% of his shots and 39.6% of his three-pointers.
But he’s not just a fantastic shooter; White is considered one of the best defenders in the league, despite being a guard at six-foot-four.
He is a hugely important player for the Celtics for several reasons and is now one of the most beloved parts of the team.
The Celtics are champions and they will work hard to keep this core group of players together.
That means that White and his splendid three-point shooting will be back in Boston next season.
