Michigan football churns out plenty of incredible talents that go on to make names for themselves in the NFL, most recently winning another National Championship and seeing their quarterback J.J. McCarthy and head coach Jim Harbaugh make the leap to the league, among many other talents on the roster.
One former great has recently been elected to the state’s Hall of Fame due to his long history both before and during his time as a Wolverine.
WXYZ Sports Director Brad Galli shared that former Michigan wide receiver Braylon Edwards has been elected to the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and will be enshrined among it’s newest class.

Edwards had a decorated career in Ann Arbor and won the 2004 Biletnikoff Award while remaining the only Big Ten player with three consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
Edwards was born and raised in Detroit and dominated at Bishop Gallagher High School before becoming a Wolverine, so his ties to the state of Michigan run deep.
His NFL career didn’t pan out like many had expected, as the Cleveland Browns made him the No. 3 overall pick and he failed to live up to the sky-high expectations that came along with it.
However, he did have a couple of great years in the league, most notably in 2007 with the Browns when he caught 80 passes for 1,289 yards and 16 touchdowns with Derek Anderson at quarterback.
Overall, Edwards put up a solid 5,522 yards and 40 touchdowns in his NFL career.
The talent was obvious, and perhaps if he had landed in a better situation with a better quarterback, this wouldn’t be the only Hall of Fame Edwards got inducted into.
