The Los Angeles Lakers have their coach, and with JJ Redick there, chances are that LeBron James isn’t going anywhere.

The NBA Draft is just around the corner, and it would be more than shocking to see them not make the most of the chance to get Bronny James.

That’s why most of their current focus should be on free agency and the trade market right now.

With that in mind, ESPN Draft expert Jonathan Givony reported that they could be a legitimate player for Collin Sexton (via NBA Central).

Collin Sexton is a potential trade target for the Lakers, per @DraftExpress

Per Givony, the Lakers want to add veteran players who could take some pressure off LeBron James and Anthony Davis’ shoulders, with the likes of Dejounte Murray and Sexton as two potential options.

The Lakers were tied to Murray for most of last season before D’Angelo Russell’s breakout.

The Atlanta Hawks are expected to part ways with him and Trae Young, but given his talents and two-way impact, the Lakers might not have what it takes to pull off a trade.

As for Sexton, he’s looked better suited to run the second unit than to be a starter.

His scoring prowess is often shadowed by his lack of efficiency, but he’s the kind of player who could thrive in the right system.

The Lakers are coming off a disappointing season and don’t have a lot of room to wiggle to improve their roster, so they will have to be extremely cautious about the players they do target to kick off the JJ Redick era.
