The Golden State Warriors couldn’t even make the playoffs last season.
Despite some big pushes, particularly late in the season, their efforts were insufficient.
Plenty of that had to do with Draymond Green getting in trouble multiple times, but Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins also left plenty to be desired.
Also, by the time Steve Kerr finally gave Jonathan Kuminga a long leash, it was too late.
Nonetheless, the Warriors still firmly believe in Stephen Curry and his ability to lead them to another championship, and rightfully so.
With that in mind, they could look to make a run at Paul George, according to NBA insider Marc Stein (via NBA Central).
The Golden State Warriors could show interest in trading for Paul George, per @TheSteinLine
“I’m pretty sure that the Warriors are as interested in George as the Knicks — maybe more. Can Golden State assemble the likely multi-team trade that would be needed to win the PG-13… pic.twitter.com/YOlPUFH6pk

Stein reported that the Warriors could join the New York Knicks in the PG-13 sweepstakes, adding that they could even be more interested than the Eastern Conference contender.
They’re reportedly trying to put together a trade package centered around Chris Paul’s expiring contract.
George has yet to sign a contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers and could simply opt out to become a free agent.
Still, given the Warriors’ salary cap situation, chances are they would have to trade for him as opposed to just signing him in free agency.
George is drawing plenty of attention from Eastern Conference teams, but playing for the Warriors would allow him to stay close to his family on the West Coast while also having another opportunity to pursue a title.
Whether the Warriors will be able to pull it off remains to be seen.
