For years, the Golden State Warriors were committed to their championship core, as they should.

But with Klay Thompson’s demise and Draymond Green’s antics, that might no longer be the case.

They already re-signed Green, but Thompson’s situation is far more complicated, and some believe he’s on the verge of walking away as a free agent.

With that in mind, the front office needs to plan ahead to the future and think of the new guard instead.

That’s why, when asked whether he would consider trading their young players, GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. confirmed that it would take a lot for them to even consider that scenario (via Warriors on NBC Sports).

“The scenario to move them would take a lot.”

Dunleavy claimed that the Warriors are very high on their young players, as they’ve drafted them, grown them, and believe they can contribute to their championship aspirations right now.

He claimed they’re excited about their growth for the upcoming season.

Of course, Dunleavy Jr. also claimed that the team wouldn’t trade Jordan Poole just hours before pulling the plug on him, so you never know what’s going on behind closed doors.

For now, it’s hard to envision a big trade that would require the Warriors to part ways with most of their youngsters, and Jonathan Kuminga is believed to be off-limits.

Still, with Stephen Curry still at the top of his powers, they’ll need to do something to help him out.
