You must have thick skin if you’re going to play, coach, or work for the Los Angeles Lakers in any shape, way, or form.

We’re talking about one of the most talked-about, scrutinized, looked-at, and followed sports teams on Earth, and everybody’s going to come at you from all fronts.

That’s why some people were worried about JJ Redick and his lack of experience as a professional coach.

They thought he could be setting himself up for failure by taking one of the toughest jobs in sports, especially considering how hot their coaching seat has been for more than a decade.

Redick, however, was unfazed by the doubters, and he let it be known during his press conference by stating that he didn’t give an F*** about the doubters.

Notably, ESPN’s Michelle Smallmon thinks that wasn’t a slip or a mistake.

Talking on the UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio show, she claimed that Reddick knows not to curse on television, so he was purposely trying to set the tone.

Per Smallmon, Redick wanted to show what he’d be like as an NBA coach, showing a difference between JJ Redick, the broadcaster, and podcaster.

That makes sense, as Redick is quite an intelligent person and has plenty of experience talking on camera, so it’s not like he didn’t know to not curse during his introductory press conference.

Redick knows he’s going to be in the eye of the storm more often than not, and he’s trying to send a message to all those who doubt him.
