Warriors GM Reveals His Thoughts On The Current Trade Market

Last year, the Golden State Warriors kicked off their offseason with a big move, sending Jordan Poole to the nation’s capital in return for Chris Paul.

The fact that they had reportedly doubled down on Poole just hours before the trade, not to mention the huge contract they had given him just one year earlier, made it a bit of a shocker.

Then, they shocked the world when the news broke of their attempt to get LeBron James midway through the season.

The Warriors confirmed that they had, indeed, touched base to try and pair James with Stephen Curry, and while he wasn’t interested, some thought they would resume that pursuit in the offseason.

With that in mind, GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. wanted to put the brakes on all the chatter.

As reported by Anthony Slater, Dunleavy stated that the Warriors will only make a big trade if it’s there; it’s not something they feel must happen at all costs or that they’ll try to force.

The fans shouldn’t get their hopes up, as the Warriors won’t be knocking on every team’s door to try to pry their stars away and lure them to the Bay area.

Truth be told, the Warriors aren’t that far behind in the championship race; they were the defending champions just two years ago.

The key here will be to add better role players and give some of the youngsters a longer leash, as well as perhaps flip Andrew Wiggins’ contract into some championship-caliber pieces.
