JJ Redick has received a lot of praise over the years for his expert opinions about the NBA, but does that mean he’ll make a good coach?
That is what Los Angeles Lakers fans are wondering right now, just one day after he was introduced as the team’s new head coach.
On Tuesday’s “Undisputed,” Keyshawn Johnson wished the best for Redick but also said things could go really badly.
“History suggests to me that this is not going to be all roses in the end,” Johnson said.

Like many others, Johnson is concerned by Redick’s lack of coaching.
He played for many years in the league and found great success but that doesn’t mean he can immediately become a terrific head coach.
And that is the big problem: the Lakers need someone who is going to have a strong impact right away.
They only have so much time left with LeBron James and they are hoping to make the most of it.
The Lakers need to look a lot better in the new season and they want Redick to show massive improvement immediately.
Yet, it usually takes a few years for most new head coaches to find their rhythm, improve their style, and find success.
So what happens if Redick isn’t giving good results halfway through the new season?
Will the Lakers fanbase turn on him?
More importantly, will the front office?
There is a chance that Redick is exactly what the Lakers need and is one of the few new head coaches who leads his team expertly in the first year.
But like Johnson said, there is also a chance that things are a mess.
